What we collect, and what we don't.
Short version: everything on this site is free and ungated. Three forms ask for an email. We use those addresses for the one thing you asked for, and nothing else. We don't rent, sell, or trade them, and we don't run advertising or tracking pixels.
What we collect
We only collect what you type into a form. There are three:
- The benchmark survey (/benchmark/survey/) — your answers, plus your name and email if you choose to give them. Both contact fields are optional. Leave them blank and your response is fully anonymous.
- The contact form (/contact/) — your name, email, company, and message.
- The field guide updates form (/field-guide/) — your email and, optionally, your role.
Nothing else on the site asks for information. Every article, tool, template, and download is available without giving us anything.
Why we collect it
Survey emails are used to send you the aggregate benchmark findings when they publish, and nothing else. Contact form submissions are used to reply to you. Field guide addresses are used to send occasional new resources, no more than monthly.
We do not add survey or contact addresses to a marketing list. Answering the survey does not sign you up for anything.
What happens to your survey answers
Individual responses are never published or attributed. Findings are reported in aggregate with the sample size shown. If you tick the box permitting it, we may quote an anonymized open-text response — without your name, company, or anything identifying.
Who else sees it
Form submissions are captured and stored by Netlify, which hosts this site. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives the request for those font files. We do not run analytics, advertising, remarketing, or third-party tracking pixels, and we do not set cookies for tracking purposes.
The Finance Seat is published by Sync Controller. If you contact us asking for help with your finance function, that conversation is handled by Sync Controller — that is the point of the contact form. Survey and field guide addresses are not passed into a sales process.
How long we keep it
Survey responses are retained as research data for as long as the benchmark is active. Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Email addresses are removed on request.
Your choices
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also reply to any message and ask to be removed, or write to us through the contact page, and we will delete your address and, if you ask, your survey response. You can request a copy of what we hold on you at any time.
Children
This site is intended for people running or advising businesses. It is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and change the date below.
